Information for attendees
Thank you for booking to join one of our story sessions with your little one. I really hope that you will benefit from the experience of taking part, but most of all, I hope you have fun!
------------------------- Who am I? -------------------------
I am a qualified Primary School Teacher with 16 years of experience in education, working with children from 4-12 years. I have two children of my own and have attended different classes and workshops with my children including baby sensory, baby signing, music, singing and STEM.
I am passionate about the importance of early shared reading experiences in developing vocabulary, giving opportunities for bonding, broadening the imagination and providing moments of mindfulness. My aim is to provide time, space and resources to facilitate these experiences and to use what I have learnt in the classes I have attended, as well as in my own practice as a teacher, to provide an engaging and enjoyable session.
------------------------- What will we do? -------------------------
Each class will focus on a story and will include a range of age appropriate activities.
In the Sensory Stories for Babies sessions we will share a story, pausing at regular intervals to explore what is happening with sensory activities. This will allow the babies to experience the book, using songs, sounds, lights and textures to bring the story to life.
For Sensory Stories for mini movers, there will be activities including storytelling, puppets, shared reading, songs and movement. In some sessions, grown ups and children will have opportunities to take part in free sensory play linked to the themes, settings and characters from the story. There will also be opportunities to take part in simple craft activities to take home.
Preschool sessions will include a range of activities following our shared reading, including crafts, STEM activities, creative storytelling activities and further opportunities to share books.
Little Neuk Play Village sessions will involve an hour of child-led play followed by a fifteen minute interactive storytime session.
Peapod Puppets sessions will involve a 15-20 minute interactive puppet show followed by child-led play in our Play Village.
Sessions are meant to be relaxed and fun, providing opportunities for you to bond with your child and meet other local parents. However, I would like to request that chatting between grown ups during the shared reading activity be kept to a minimum in order for the children to be able to focus on the story :)
------------------------- Where do the sessions take place? -------------------------
All sessions will be taking place in The Little Neuk Storytelling Centre at East Shore, Anstruther. There are toilets and changing facilities on site.
------------------------- What will you need? -------------------------
All you need to do is wear something comfortable.
------------------------- Sickness Guidelines -------------------------
To avoid potential spread of any illness, please use a sensible approach. If you or your child is unwell and you do not feel that it is safe to attend the sessions, please do let me know. If you or your child has had vomiting or diarrhoea within the 48 hours prior to a session, please do not attend.
Masks are not required but if you would prefer to wear one, please do. I will provide hand sanitiser which you are encouraged to use. I will be vigilant about keeping equipment and resources clean. In the baby sessions, you will have your own bag of equipment which you will be using throughout the session. Free play equipment will be cleaned after each session.
------------------------- Cancellations -------------------------
If I need to cancel a session, I will try to give as much notice as possible and will contact you using your email address provided on booking. I will try to arrange an alternative session where possible but in the event of this not being possible, refunds will be offered in the event of me cancelling a session.
I am unable to offer refunds for missed sessions due to illness of you or your child or any other reason.
